5 Reasons to Eat Breakfast in the Morning

We’ve all heard it before, “Breakfast is the most important meal of the day”, but is it really true? Here are a few good reasons to why skipping breakfast may not be such a good idea.


Decreased appetite

Studies show that eating breakfast in the morning could help curb appetite later in the day. A study done by the Journal of Nutrition in 2011 showed that those who ate breakfast reported decreased levels of hunger throughout the day compared to those who had no breakfast.


Improve your memory

Consuming breakfast may help improve your memory. Multiple studies have been done on children that show those who eat breakfast tend to have improved cognitive skills and perform better at school. Consuming a good quality breakfast at the start of the day could help improve not only your memory, but mood and concentration, as well as lower stress.


Prevent type 2 diabetes

Significant research has shown that regularly eating breakfast lowers the risk of type 2 diabetes by almost 30 percent. The study which was done over a 10-year research program found those who skipped breakfast had a higher risk of type 2 diabetes. The possible explanation could be that skipping breakfast can cause insulin resistance.


Good for your heart

Studies show a link between breakfast and heart health. A study done by the Journal of American College of Cardiology in 2017, found those who skipped breakfast were more likely to have atherosclerosis. That’s when your arteries narrow and harden due to buildup of plaque, which can lead to a heart attack and stroke.


Weigh Less

A study published by the Critical reviews in Food Science and Nutrition, found those who ate breakfast had a reduced risk of obesity and had healthier BMI’s
